Racing Mentor is pleased to announce a new partnership agreement with Chequered Flag Motorsport

Racing Mentor is pleased to announce a new partnership agreement with Chequered Flag Motorsport, a Yorkshire-based community interest company (CIC) dedicated to increasing awareness of long term neurological conditions by opening access to motorsport through fundraising, special events and rehabilitation opportunities.

In 2020, stroke survivor Gary Booth founded the not-for-profit organisation to help improve the wellbeing of people who have experienced a life-changing medical event, are neurodiverse, or living with a physical disability. By opening up otherwise ‘closed doors’ to motorsport, Chequered Flag aims to positively impact rehabilitation, social inclusion, and mental wellness.

Jess says: “We got to know Gary in spring last year through some consultancy work we did for Chequered Flag Motorsport. We were immediately struck by his dedication and perseverance. As a stroke survivor himself, he knows that exclusion and isolation can have a devastating long term impact.”

Sharing how the partnership came to be, Jess adds: “When I talked with my team at the end of 2021, we all agreed that an official partnership with Chequered Flag was a great fit for us. Changing motorsport for the better by ensuring it’s inclusive and accessible for all, is a goal we share.”

Chequered Flag Motorsport’s events include race car simulator experiences, specialist track days, and accessible motorsport museum and factory tours. In addition to year-round nationwide events, it also helps its own charity partners with fundraising events and engages with businesses looking to directly support and invest in local communities.

Gary explains the background to his story: “Finding my own way back from a life-changing stroke has been the toughest of tests. The excitement of motorsport was the constant I could rely on to give me a boost, be it watching F1, driving a racing simulator or checking out classic racing cars.”

Confirming the new partnership, Gary says: “Working with Jess and the Racing Mentor team last year was a revelation, they pushed me towards bigger goals for Chequered Flag, which are now happening faster than expected. When Jess suggested we make a working partnership official, I immediately said yes. Racing Mentor shares the same inclusive values as Chequered Flag and having their ongoing support will help make 2022 our best year yet.”
