Racing Mentor Named Diversity and Inclusion Champion 2023
We are thrilled to announce that Racing Mentor has been recognised for our efforts to make motorsport a more inclusive and welcoming place. We’ve been awarded the title of Diversity and Inclusion Champion 2023 by Business Awards UK.
Since the beginning (back in 2016!), Racing Mentor has always aimed to support motorsport success for everyone. There should be no barriers to those who want to participate, watch, or win, so over the years, we’ve been working on content, courses, and talks that give everyone a chance. We also partner with other organisations that share our values. These efforts are crucial in ensuring the sport we love is more inclusive, accessible, and welcoming than ever before.
Our values are clear:
We support this community as a whole, no matter your background, so much of what we do is free or low-cost.
Gender and sexuality should not be a barrier to sport and we will always advocate for and support all LGBTQ+ people.
People with disabilities should not be excluded from participating in or enjoying motorsport and we will continue to work with organisations that give equal opportunities to all.
Our recent collaborations with Racing Pride and Chequered Flag Motorsport have strengthened our dedication to fostering welcoming spaces for all within motorsport. Both organisations continue to do incredible work and we’re proud to play a small part in what they do.
Our founder, Jess Shanahan, is also working hard to engage with the wider motorsport community on diversity and inclusion topics as a member of the Motorsport UK LGBTQ expert committee.
Speaking on the award announcement, Jess says:
"This award is not just recognition for us, it is a victory for every individual in motorsport who actively participates in addressing the diversity and inclusion gaps in our sport.
“Racing Mentor is very much a team effort. The friends, clients, and partners that we work with deserve our greatest thanks. They are the inspiration for what we do and the values that we build our work around.”
While it's great to have this recognition, more can be done.
Here's to making motorsport more inclusive, one race at a time!
